with WB5, for no reason.

Hi guys,

I have been running Windowblinds 5 and it has worked perfectly... up until last night when I formatted and reinstalled Windows XP SP2 MCE 2005.

I installed SDCentral, Wb4.6, restarted, installed WB5... so far so good. ALl activation completed and WB5 reports its installed fine, yet no skins will apply at all.

Fine, I uninstall completely removing any trace of WB. I restart, reinstall 4.6. Nothing! No skins will work in that either Again, I uninstall completely, restart, put Wb5 on only... nothing but Classic.

Is this an account issue as I have read before? Or has something gone really wrong with the install of the latest Wb5 that seems to have also affected 4.6?

Any help would be appreciated. Nothing has changed on my system at all since before the format, just a clean reinstall.

Thanks.

I think there is a problem in SC with 4.6 and 5 categories conflicting somehow in the install/uninstall/upgrade sequence. There is a consistant issue there and I don't think Stardock has figured out why yet.

I am having the exact same problem you are, and I'm also running MCE 2005.  I finally gave up trying to get WB5 to apply a skin, uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled 4.6, and now even it won't apply skins .

Yeah it is still happening to me with the new beta released on the 2nd

I finally got mine fixed.  Now the new WB5 beta released on the 2nd works fine.  Here's what I did, maybe it'll help you too.

Completely uninstall all Stardock products and reboot.  Then delete the entire Stardock folder under Program Files if there is anything left.  Afterwards, open regedit and search for every single instance of Stardock, Object Desktop, and WindowBlinds that you can find, and delete every single one of them.

I did that, and then reinstalled SDCentral, updated it, rebooted, installed WB5, rebooted again, and it worked .  My guess is there was something getting left in my registry that was preventing any version of WB from working, because I had also tried the uninstall SDCentral approach before, but it wasn't until I cleaned out my registry by hand that it started working again.
